Did you know that there is a solution for most of your health problems sitting right at your home? It is most likely that your mother or grandmother may know about these nuskhas or home remedies. Recently my mom told me about kamarkas, a herb that can be magical for your back pain! Let’s find out more about this.
I saw my mother making laddoos in the kitchen, and was immediately excited by the prospect that she might be making besan laddoos or gond laddoos. But when I asked her, she told me she was preparing kamarkas laddoos! I was confused after hearing this new recipe. So, my mother went on to explain that kamarkas is a herb similar to gond (edible gum) in some way and has properties that can help with back pain relief.
What is kamarkas?
From further research, I found out that kamarkas is an Indian spice obtained from the gum or resins of an Asian deciduous tree named Palash, flame-of-the-forest, or bastard teak. The gum of this tree is known as Bengal kino, Chunia Gond, and butea gum and is well-known for its medicinal properties. This gum is then made into little gleaming dark red flakes of powder which we know as kamarkas.
