A fourth, unlikely, character has entered the longest-burning celebrity relational drama of 2022. You know, the one swirling around actress and director Olivia Wilde; her ex, Ted Lasso star Jason Sudekis and her boyfriend Harry Styles.
The messy breakdown of Wilde and Sudekis’ marriage added an extra layer to the behind-the-scenes drama of Wilde’s film Don’t Worry Darling, which stars Styles as its leading man. Remember when Wilde was served court documents pertaining to the pair’s bitter custody battle onstage while promoting the film?
Even now the film is out, the drama – and interest in it – shows no sign of cooling off. The latest stoking-of-the-fire comes via an anonymous woman who claims she worked for Wilde and Sudekis as a nanny, looking after their two children for three years.
The source claims that Wilde left the family home to be with Styles in late 2020 – and the level of detail she goes into is…intense. She also introduces a new key player into the tableau: a mysterious salad dressing.
According to the Daily Mail, Sudekis allegedly said to the nanny: ‘She made this salad and she made her special dressing and she’s leaving with her salad to have dinner with [Harry]’ and ‘she has a special salad dressing she makes for us and she’s taken it to have it with him now’. Yeesh.
A message that appears in screenshots the unnamed nanny claims were sent by Sudekis also reads: ‘Took her salad, and dressing and left them’.
It’s worth mentioning that both Wilde and Sudekis have tried to distance themselves from this nanny. They released a joint statement to Vulture, condemning the ‘false and scurrilous accusations’ that represent the ‘unfortunate apex’ of a ‘now 18-month campaign of harassing us’.
But, what about the specific ingredients of most-talked-about condiment of the moment? The couple’s former nanny doesn’t know what’s in it. So, er, neither to do we. But you can bet that’s not stopped the internet speculating as to the formula.
At present, fans have speculated that the best clue as can be found on 2020 show Questlove’s Potluck on the US Food Network. On the show, Wilde made a roasted salmon salad with courgette and potatoes, dressed with red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, honey, garlic and olive oil.
Tasty, sure. But also a pretty classic vinaigrette. Which has led other commentators to ask if this really is the ‘special’ dressing in question.
Well, we hope the former couple are taking care of themselves as this brutal split plays out in public. And, of course, we’ll let you know if we get any more intel on the condiment of the moment.
