Papankusha Ekadashi Worship 2022
This year Papankusha Ekadashi is being celebrated on Thursday, 6 October 2022. Ekadashi date is considered very important in Hinduism. According to the belief, this date is most dear to Lord Vishnu. This Ekadashi helps in attaining heaven by giving freedom from sins.
Importance- ‘Papankusha Ekadashi’ is celebrated every year after the conclusion of Shardiya Navratri and on Ashwin Shukla Ekadashi on the next day of Vijayadashami or Dussehra festival. Shri Hari Vishnu is worshiped on this day. By keeping a fast on this day and worshiping Shri Hari Vishnu, Vishnu ji is pleased and blesses him with wealth and prosperity and gives freedom from sins.
When Dharmaraja Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna regarding this Ashwin Shukla Ekadashi, Shri Krishna said, O Yudhishthira! The name of this Ekadashi which destroys sins is Papankusha Ekadashi. On this day one should worship Lord Padmanabha in a ritualistic manner. This Ekadashi is supposed to give the desired results to a person and get him to heaven. The fruit that a man gets by doing severe penance for a long time, that fruit is obtained by doing salutations to Lord Garudadhwaja.
Those who commit many sins out of ignorance but do salutations to Hari, they do not go to hell. The mere chanting of the name of Vishnu gives the fruit of the merit of all the pilgrimages of the world. Those who take refuge in Lord Vishnu with a sharp bow, they never have to suffer Yama’s torture. Those who blaspheme Shiva as Vaishnava and Vishnu as Shaiva, they are certainly residents of hell.
The result obtained by performing thousands of Vajpeya and Ashwamedha sacrifices is not even equal to the sixteenth part of the fast of Ekadashi. There is no virtue in the world equal to Ekadashi. There is nothing in the three worlds as pure as this. There is no fast equal to this Ekadashi. As long as humans do not observe a fast on the Ekadashi of Padmanabha, sins can reside in their bodies.
Let’s know the legend from the mouth of Lord Krishna – papankusha ekadashi 2022 Katha
According to the legend of this fast, in ancient times there lived a fowler named Krodhan on Vindhya mountain, he was very cruel. His whole life was spent in sinful acts of violence, looting, drinking and wrong association. When his last time came, the messengers of Yamraj came to take the fowler and the eunuch said to the fowler that tomorrow is the last day of your life, we will come to pick you up tomorrow.
Hearing this, Fowler became very frightened and reached Maharishi Angira’s hermitage and fell at the feet of Maharishi Angira and started praying, O sage! I have committed sins all my life. Please tell me some such remedy, by which all my sins can be erased and salvation can be attained. On his request, Maharishi Angira asked him to observe a lawful fast on the Papankusha Ekadashi of Ashwin Shukla.
According to Maharishi Angira, that fowler observed this fast and got rid of all the sins committed and due to the effect of this fast, all his accumulated sins were destroyed and he attained salvation.
So, O Rajendra! This Ekadashi is the giver of heaven, salvation, health, beautiful woman and food and wealth. Ganga, Gaya, Kashi, Kurukshetra and Pushkar are also not as virtuous as Ekadashi fasting. By observing the fast of Harivasar and Ekadashi and doing Jagran, one easily attains the position of Vishnu.
Oh Yudhishthira! The performers of this fast save ten generations on the maternal side, ten generations on the paternal side, ten generations on the female side and ten generations on the friend side. Wearing a divine body, having a four-armed form, wearing a Pitambar and carrying a garland in his hand, climbs Garuda and goes to Vishnuloka.
O Nripottam! By observing this fast in childhood, youth and old age, even a sinner does not attain misfortune and attains salvation. Those who observe fast on this Papankusha Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month, they attain Harilok at the end time and are freed from all sins. By donating gold, sesame, land, cow, food, water, umbrella and shoes, a person does not see Yamraj.
The man who spends the days of life without doing any kind of virtuous deeds, breathing like a blacksmith’s furnace is like a dead body. Poor people should also donate according to their power and those who are rich should donate after getting lakes, gardens, houses etc. Such people do not have to see the door of Yama and live a long life in the world and remain wealthy, noble and disease free. One who observes this fast gets divine results.
